Spotlight on Spikenard – An ancient essential oil
You’ve heard of Frankincense and Myrrh but what about Spikenard?
Spikenard, mentioned in the Christian bible as, “very precious oil”, was expensive and highly prized in the times of the Old Testament. It was used for healing many ailments, including menstrual cramps, as this oil is a powerful antispasmodic, meaning it suppresses muscle contractions and spasms. Additionally, it soothes the mind due to its sedative properties and reduces inflammation. These are the reasons why it is the main ingredient in our Monthly Comfort Blend.
Known Properties of Frankincense and Myrrh
Now back to Frankincense and Myrrh. Apart from being tricky to spell, they’re both used to improve immune health. They both have been shown to protect the body by killing bacteria and fungi, and boost our immune system by increasing the function of white blood cells while reducing inflammation. We use both Frankincense and Myrrh in our Immune Booster to prevent you from becoming sick, but if you are sick the Immune Booster will reduce the length of time you are sick.
